So, this past week was a good one.
Thanks everyone for your emails, I look forward to reading them each monday.
So, tiffany you asked how the people here are in marcala.
Well, for the most part they are pretty awesome! All of the members of the
church are super nice and help me with my spanish. They always give us
like mangos and stuff to eat. But people who arent members, thats a bit of a
different story. So marcala is a pretty small town. Like it only takes like 45
minutes to walk from one side to the other. There are churches everywhere here.
Like on every street theres a diferent church. And the churches dont like
the mormons very much. So, there is a lot of like gossip and stuff spread
about us. So, either people are super nice and receptive to be taught more, or
they are very closed off. This is just what my companion tells me. In my 3
weeks here, everyone has been super nice and open. Its been awesome.
My spanish is improving, i can understand a lot more now
than i could. I am learning lots of new words and what not.
Ummm, I am getting better from my sickness. I have been sick
since like the day i got off of the plane, but now i feel like i am on the
downhill slope. I bought a pair of boots and they are so awesome! My feet dont
get wet when we are walking anymore!
This past week, or the week before, idk, we had
exchanges with the zone leaders and this was pretty cool. My companion and I
were in a trio with and elder named edler robledo. He is from mexico. And i
learned alot. But one thing that he expressed the most is that contacting
should be a spiritual experience, not just motions you run through. And we got
to get some practice with that and it was good. Also my mission president came
here to marcala like two sundays ago. He gave an awesome talk during sacrament
meeting. We have a problem here in marcala with a lot of the
members. They keep most of the commandments, but not all of them... And he
addressed this issue and it was awesome! Hopefully we will see some
changes.
FUNNY STORY TIME! So it has been raining here like everyday.
And when it rains, it comes down hard. On saturday we were in our house and i
was preparing my talk for sunday. It was raining and we have a metal roof on
our house. You cant hear anything when it rains and youre inside your house.
So, while i was like studying the scriptures and what not, gets his camera and
sets it up behind me and turns it on video. He then goes and gets like a
walmart bag and fills it up with air, then sneaks up behind me and pops the
bag. Like no joke, when he poped it, it sounded like a grenade or something.
ANd i like freaked out, and he has it on video.... He was watching over and
over the other day and laughing so hard.... It made me a little bit mad lol
well thats all the time i have for this week.
Love you guys!
Nick
