Tiffany thanks for getting that debit card overnighted. I still havent recieved it yet. But for reals, i need it badly. They didnt tell me that i needed a pillow in the call letter, so i didnt bring one.... Ive been using that blue adidas sweatshirt that i have as a pillow hahahaha. So far i need to buy a pillow, and the shoes that i have arent going to cut it. We are about two weeks from rainy season and i need to buy a pair of boots.
Its so hard to communicate here with the people. I thought my spanish wasnt that bad, but holy smokes! Whenever we are talking with people i have like no idea what they are saying... So i kinda just sit there awkwardly and bear my testimony at the end of each lesson. sometimes i contribute, but not often hahahaha.
I will be writing mondays around 11 for the next 3 months.
So much has happened in these past two weeks i dont even know where to begin. Right now im in a little city way up in the mountains called Marcala. The weather is pretty moderate. It actually gets cold here because we are so high up. The people as a whole seem pretty nice. People here arent very well off financially so its kinda poor. Most of the people here work out in the coffe fields. And because of this the word of wisdom is a bit of an issue.
There are a few paved streets here in marcala but most of the roads are dirt. And the streets here dont have names, so its like way hard to navigate. I dont know where i am half of the time but my companion does so its cool. And its also pretty hard to get a reference or an address from someone because they describe thier house using landmarks! hahaha. They are like i live by pulperia mar in the second orange house on the left.
So i pretty much am hiking up and down mountains all day. My companion laughs at me cuz i am always stumbling on rocks and what not.
Yesterday was fast sunday and we fasted. Its way hard fasting here cuz we dont drink water while we are out hiking up and down mountains. I felt so awful! And to top it off i was sick yesterday. We had to come home a couple hours early cuz i felt like poop. I still feel a little sick right now. I got a sore throat. But nothing serious.
I met my mission president and his wife. They are super nice. There were about 20 missionaries that were in my group of nuevos. He challenged each of us to read the book of mormon in 12 weeks. So im working on that. I did the math and i need to read 6 pages each day. right now im in 2 nephi.
There is a mission facebook page and a website you guys can go check out. im pretty sure you can find em on google. Comayaguela mission.
The flight from Guatemala to Tegucigalpa was soooo sketchy. It was a big airplane like we have in the states. But for some reason when we were landing the pilot let the plane get like 10 feet from these houses. And in here in honduras there are hills everywhere so i felt like we were gonna crash. But we didnt. WOOT!
My companion is named Elder Rizental. He is from brazil and speaks portuguese. He can understand a little bit of english but not a whole lot. He is pretty awesome, and is a great missionary. He was trained by the old assistant so he is like super missionary. Im in a 12 week training program with him.
There are 6 missionaries here in Marcala. The branch here is pretty small and struggling a bit. Most of the members have some commandments that they dont follow. There are about 60 member here. Only 2 of them have the melquesidec priesthood.
And yeah. I love you guys!
